How CBC assessments work
- Select your class. Choose Grade 1–9 or Grade 10–12. You can start without creating an account.
- Choose a subject. Guests see one available assessment per class and subject. Logged-in learners can browse every open paper.
- Start as a guest. Attempt the assessment immediately. If a paper is not ready yet, request it so Super Admin can see the demand.
- Answer the questions. Work through the questions online, at your own pace, within the time shown for that paper.
- Submit the assessment. Submit when you have finished. The paper is marked on the server. You cannot change answers after this.
- Unlock your results. Pay with M-Pesa to view your score, grade, answers, strand analysis and downloadable report.
- Keep your results (optional). Create a free account afterwards to save assessment history, track performance, and open results from any device.
- Practise again. A learner account unlocks every available paper, previous reports, strengths and weaknesses, and performance trends.
Questions learners and parents ask
What are CBC assessments?
On Mwalimu Scheme, CBC assessments are online practice papers for learners studying under Kenya’s Competency Based Curriculum. They help learners practise concepts, check understanding, and see which areas need more work. They are learning tools on this platform — not official national examinations.
Which grades can use the assessments?
Learner assessments on Mwalimu Scheme are set up for Grade 1–12. Select the class grade you are in so you see papers published for that grade.
Which subjects are available?
Public grade pages list CBC learning areas used in Kenyan schools for that grade, such as Mathematics, English and Kiswahili. Guests can take one live paper per class and subject. Logged-in learners see every published paper.
Do I need to register?
No. You can start and submit an assessment as a guest. Payment is required to unlock results. A free account is optional afterwards if you want to save your history, track performance, and open results from another device.
Can I see my results after completing an assessment?
The paper is marked immediately, but scores, answers and analysis stay locked until you complete payment. After payment you can view results again with your secure results link, or save them to a learner account.
Can I practise more than once?
Guests can take one assessment per class and subject. Create a free account to browse all available papers, keep history, and access previous reports.
Are the assessments available online?
Yes. Learners sit assessments in the browser on Mwalimu Scheme. You need an internet connection while you take the paper.
Who can use Mwalimu Scheme?
Grade 1–12 learners in Kenya can take assessments as guests or with a learner account. A parent or guardian can help younger children. Teachers use the same site for CBC schemes of work.
Are the questions aligned with the CBC curriculum?
Assessments are designed around CBC learning areas for Grade 1–12. Mwalimu Scheme is an independent learning platform and is not a government examination body or an official KICD certification service.
Is sitting an assessment free?
Yes. Sitting a published assessment is free. You pay only if you want to unlock detailed results, answers, analysis and the downloadable report.
